At what age does parental responsibility end?
Your obligations continue until your child has turned 18 and don’t end with divorce or separation. The government and the court encourage both parents to share in the exercise of their parental responsibility for a child, even in the case of separation.

Aged 16-17 You can leave home without your parents’ or carers’ permission. Or they can ask you to leave. But it’s important to think carefully before deciding to move out and leave home.
Can your parents disown you?
Once your children come of age, you are free to disown them. A parent can financially and emotionally cut off his own children with legal impunity. Namely: People have a right to disown. Passing a law saying, “You have to stay in touch with your parents” or “You can’t disinherit your kids” just seems tyrannical.
Where to go when you’ve been kicked out?
If you have been kicked out you can call Runaway Helpline and we can pass messages or help you call family if it is hard to talk to them yourself. If you feel you can’t go home then by law you are considered homeless. Your local authority should make sure you have a safe home.
