Can you tow with a kinetic rope?
Yes, but it’s a TOW strap, not a RECOVERY rope. The Kinetic Recovery Rope (sometimes called a “snatch” rope or strap) has elasticity to it, meaning it can stretch some allowing kinetic energy to provide some extra “yank” to free a truly stuck vehicle.

What strength tow strap do I need?
We always recommend that you choose a rope with a strength 2 to 2.5 times the weight of what you’re trying to pull. For example, if you have a piece of equipment that is 40,000 lbs, a good choice would be our 1-1/2″ rope, since it has a breaking strength of 90,000 lbs.
Are straps stronger than chains?
Yes and No. Chains and straps have ratings. A 20,000 pound strap is stronger than a 750 pound chain. a chain is better for tying stuff down.
Which is better tow rope or tow strap?
If you’re doing a slow pull or tow on the stuck vehicle, with little effort, a tow strap is fine. If you need to “yank” the stuck vehicle free with a lot of brute force, sometimes doing several attempts to break it free, you need to use a Snatch Rope / Strap. Tow Ropes and Snatch Ropes are rated by Break Strength.
What length recovery rope do I need?
The type of rope you need is usually dictated by the size and weight of your vehicle. A generally good rule to live by is that your rope should have a breaking strength of about 3 times the weight of the car that is being pulled. Simply multiply the weight of your car by 3 you will have correct measurements.
